Small things to do at home and office in your new eco lifestyle
Get rid of plastic straws forever. Replace them with paper straws or biodegradable certified straws or bamboo reusable ones, or sugarcane or starch paper ones
Thankfully supermarkets trade them in huge quantities and you can easily buy them.
I buy from our AB Vasilopoulos super market the vintage ones with the roses as you see them in the picture (and the stripes as I love stripes). There is a debate what is best, paper straws or biodegradable plastics/polymers, or bamboo reusable.
Each case can allow a disadvantage. The paper one decomposes after long (especially if you drink hot milk with straw as I do), both paper and bamboo ones need some plantation and water waste for their production and so on. Experts go deeper and say paper will need trees, timber plantation, land changes, water depletion, pesticide pollution and more.
Truth is compostable or biodegradable would be probably the answer but until we can reach them in our super market paper straw is a very good option. Moreover I’m not sure and have not researched the subject to know if these are just thrown in our bin or should be collected by recycle service for a unit.
So, let’s be fans of the paper straws, yet starch straws can be easily ordered.
One of the leader ecological companies in eco consciousness provide for long in the market sugarcane straws amongst a full collection of galley utensils from same material.
