Responsibility means recyclability
How to recycle the used Nespresso capsules?
Just take them to one of Nespresso boutiques. They do have special bins that you may empty your Nespress bag with the used pods. Nespresso is one of the largest producers of single-serving coffee pods. It’s good to know that Nespresso capsules are made from aluminum and not plastic so can be eventually recycled.
Aluminum is the most protective material available today. It guarantees the freshness of the carefully crafted aromas and rich flavors of our coffees.
Lightweight but strong, aluminium seals the coffee from external elements which could affect its quality – oxygen, moisture and light.
Nespresso fans need to hand the used ones to a Nespresso store. From there it is Nespresso’s partners to separate the aluminum from the coffee grounds.
The coffee grounds are either turned into nutrient-rich compost and topsoil or turned into biogas.
The aluminum is processed and, ultimately, reused to produce new products.
Actually, during recycling process the aluminium is separated from the residual coffee. The coffee is sent to an industrial composting facility to be transformed into compost, while the aluminium is recycled and sent back to the aluminium industry to produce new aluminium products.
