The wonderful experience of this ceremony: tea drinking in the desert!
When it comes to the bucket list of the things most people want to do, flying off an airplane, visiting the Great Wall of China, and going into the empire state building are usually at the top. However, the tea drinking experience in the desert must be one of the more underrated experiences not a lot of people talk about. This isn’t about any desert experience in the world since the Arabian Desert lands are known for their mystique and magical experience.

How the experience unfolds: It usually starts with a Jeep ride to the desert hills in the designated spot. The real traditional way is by camel where a guide or the camel’s master guides the caravan of camels where you ride on. The absolute best time to go is right around 4h30 where you can enjoy the heat dissipating in the desert. You can have tea at around 5h coupled with the traditional authentic Saudi Arabian dates. These dates are known to come from the same areas where the prophet lived.

It is also around this time where you can enjoy the beautiful sunset and the breathtaking view from the high tops of the desert. The desert can get cold and at around 6h in the afternoon and it is also around this time where guides will entertain with belly dancers, and even snake awakening for the courageous souls. The guides then will get you to wear the forearm sleeve to hold an Arabia desert eagle in your arms which is a traditional and authentic experience. The experience is mesmerizing around the infamous red sands of the Arabian Desert. The tea drinking experience is also usually coupled with henna painting on the hands or feet which is a traditional way used to welcome people. Shisha pipes and Arabian clothe dressing for a photo souvenir is also customary. The night ends with a BBQ dinner at camp with your favorite foods you can also choose to go for traditional foods such as kebabs, falafel, camel meat, rice and veggies, and the traditional rice meal.

The whole experience is usually done with a group when you go to camp for kebab eating, belly dancer watching, twirl dancer, and food eating. You can also choose to get an exclusive camel riding and tea drinking experience by yourself or with a loved one.
The desert experience can be one of the assets of NEOM’s traditional climate since it’s a great touristic attraction. MENA countries such as Algeria and Morocco are known for having the desert experience as a part of their heritage. Emirates follow with the desert safari and experience in the desert. Saudi Arabia can also benefit from including the desert experience more and especially since it can be a great 2030 vision goal. In addition to being a profitable source of income for the locals, it brings cultures together by welcoming all kinds of people from all countries to indulge in one experience such as the desert experience that we all love and enjoy.
