Why this impassion
when we hear of evil things? Human brutality and atrocities make you wonder. Are we really feeling intimate with the evil? We are tough with society norms and cardinal values to direct our choices towards good actions. We do good, we feel good. But some times when it comes to making choices, we are enticed by the idea of picking the easier way out of things.
It makes sense for people to avoid doing the work and just be intimate with evil and go the easy route, which is not always the safest one and it normally harms others. But they end up using that usually just because they think it’s the best choice for them.
And that’s one of the results of our society, we are focused on ourselves more than other people and those persons around us. Even when we do the right thing, thoughts of profound wickedness poison our mind. We believe in evil as an external attacking force either from religious beliefs or to protect our image to society.
Psychology presents mostly the theory of evil actions and not evil people. However, there are psychologists who, by having examined several cases and following studies, claim a person evil whose objective gains find internal peace by the magnitude of injuries caused, acting intentionally in full responsibility for the violated moral norms. They actually call evil a person with the intent of avoiding guilt and maintaining a self-image of perfection and unable to think from the viewpoint of their victim.
You see evil is named a person by the victim, but the perpetrator might feel a form of justice for his own world; examples could be the religious persecutions and civil wars. And this is where it comes to blur if immorality is adjoined to evil or a perverted sense of justice. Or maybe the abused children who grew up as serial killers.
Why instincts come onto the surface when we thought we’ve never had them? We do have a memory of God. But it makes you wonder if we do have some kind of ‘memory of evil’ too. It is the memory of God that finally guides us towards good actions? And we do think of evil? Is this a mutilated consciousness mourning for its lost soul?
There are multiple psychological forces that push us to do bad things
First, there’s the compensation effect. We see ourselves as a good person and we do good things that help other people. So we encourage ourselves that one bad thing won’t make that much of a difference. And even if it might not do that, it’s still bad to think about the idea of just feeling intimate with evil and not doing the right thing and eventually helping others. It makes sense to know exactly what you expect and what situations you have to deal with. Life is certainly full of challenges and compensating bad things with good ones is not the way you want to live.
Another thing that makes us feel intimate with evil is that we need to control other people
We are pushing ourselves towards the idea to become a leader. But as you already know, not all leaders are good people or very friendly. Some straight up abuse other persons and that will end up being a huge problem more often than not. You still need to know what you are getting into and you have to avoid making decisions that will hurt others. Evil results in certain consequences might include serious injury or death but also circumstances that destroy people’s dignity, happiness, and capacity to fulfill basic material needs. This is a common description for the fanatics, the serial killers and other persons with mental distortions, the abusive people in several societies due to the lack of law, the corrupted leaders.
For normal people, the last thing they want to be is evil, they want to be friendly and help others! It makes a difference in thinking evil than acting evil. Intentionality is the keyword.
Then there’s the tunnel vision. As the name suggests, we feel intimate with evil, and we set our own goals without listening to someone else or any input
That sounds ok at first, but it’s bound to be a problem. The reason is simple; listening to evil ideas and solutions will not work you. It will convert you to a blind person in criticism and cultivate a form of narcissism injured easily and detaching you from society.
You have to be committed to value and quality, and you need to understand that taking other people’s ideas really helps a lot.
It’s important to have a voice of reason in our lives and guidelines, as that will help pay off very well if you do it right.
The pressure to conform
Sometimes the groups you are hanging out with act evil. In fact, they tend to focus a lot on making wrong choices, or they influence you towards the wrong things. And that’s a shame because you will always feel that pressure to conform to what others have to say.
It’s important to be your own master and to control yourself based on the way you want. It always helps if you understand the process and actively figure out the right approach without worrying about downsides and consequences. There are obvious challenges when it comes to being a part of a group. Yet if that group pushes you towards evil notions and ideas, then the best thing you can do is to step away from them. It’s certainly not easy to do that, but the results can indeed pay off, and that’s exactly what you need to think about in a situation like this for the most part.
Women like bad boys
It sounds cliché, but the reality is that young women, in particular, tend to be attracted by evil, those guys that break the rules. They consider guys that respect the rules to be boring, so they end up with bad boys that have a bad influence on their lives at the end of the day. Which is why you need to make a conscious pick, you need to know what to expect and what problems can appear. Things can be easy or they can be super difficult, but you have to listen to your heart and mind as well.
Power makes you evil
In many situations, we feel intimate with evil when we reach a place of power. We don’t have to be leaders, the sheer fact that we have control over other people’s lives is more than enough. It pushes the boundaries when it comes to bringing in some unique ideas and results, and the return on investment can indeed pay off a lot in the long run. In Orthodox Christianity, we have a prayer saying Dear God detach me from any form of leadership obsession. Power should make people more sensitive and willing to protect the weak.
It feels easy to do the wrong things
For a lot of people it’s easier to steal something instead of actively trying to do the right thing and work so they can buy it on their own. But as we mentioned earlier, it’s simpler to just succumb to evil and actively try to do the bad stuff first. It feels very tempting, but this can be an extremely difficult thing to think about and the results will not be that great, to begin with. It helps if you know what to do and you actively focus on having a happy life without evil in it.
Yes, it feels easier to do the wrong things, that doesn’t mean you have to succumb to the bad stuff in life. There are many amazing things that will help take your life to the next level. We feel intimate with evil because it pushes us towards a simpler approach to own or achieve something.
Yet as we all know, if you end up winning or acquiring something easily, it will end up getting away from your life just as fast. What you want to do is to focus on happiness and positivity. Evil should not be a part of our lives. You need to be content with the stuff you have and the great people around you.
Of course, there are challenges along the way, but if you are focused and committed to great results and pick the right approach in life, you will be amazed at the outcome!
to be continued darlings
