created through a very delicate manufacturing process from tobacco varieties, flavored to carry hints of flavors, cocoa, spices, jalapenos, or complex flavors. Cigars is a habit, or for occasional smokers who wish to enjoy a rich meal, to celebrate an occasion, or enjoy feeling of a wealthy and beautiful life. 

I will not talk to you about the expensive cigars, neither my page is revolving around luxury that we cannot afford. I will share a tip and a story for the Greek cigars, which have been fancied by our people on board our yachts.

You see, there is a Greek brand, Vamma Del Sol, established by Aris and Kostas Konstantinidis, in a town of 5000 inhabitants, Krya Vrysi in Pella Prefecture. They are cultivating tobacco in 10 acres fields and produce the first Handcrafted Premium Tobacco Cigar in Europe. Its main characteristic is the vertical integration and production, from the seeds up to the final product.

History
Aris Konstantinidis studied Finance Science in City College of Thessaloniki and extended studies with a Master in Agricultural Economics in University of Aberdeen in Scotland. When came back to his town, he had to fight against all odds, as tobacco was no more subsidized by EU. Satisfied with a detailed research, Aris validated soil and weather conditions, ideal for Tobacco Berley type, matching also with the long leaves East type, utilized by Cuban for their productions.

It took time to test farming and crop, dry the leaves for one year and evaluate sample by sending to a lab in Manhattan and finally receive the finding encouraging, as the sample was testified of an exceptionally high quality.

Aris travelled to Cuba, the famous factory of Partagas and several units to learn all secrets of this process.  Of course no one shared knowledge but for Aris, grown in the tobacco field, with grandfathers from Minor Asia cultivating tobacco since 1922, and experienced from youth in Berley tobacco type, it was easy to comprehend what needed to know and confident enough to invest in molds, and full kits to start process.

It was the osmosis in Cuba, people and tobacco, as well as the ways of manufacture of cigars there. What followed was the combination of this knowledge with the family tradition in the production of the tobacco, which gave birth to this family enterprise. 

In one of his interviews Aris says that literally thousands of pieces were taken out before concluding to the accurate type and style of each Vamma Del Sol Cigar. In great confidence, Aris and Kostas Konstantinidis patented an innovative production.

Moreover, as they don’t have intermediates in their business, Vamma Del Sol maintains an affordable rate.

We create the cigars… When we decide that the right time has come to wake up the tobacco from this long period of “sleep” we start the procedure of its transformation into its final form. In this stage only the best leaves are selected and are placed in the right position and order to form a cigar which you are going to taste. It is the creation of the cigar with the fillers.

We offer the cigars time to gain balance… After the cigars are formed and before being placed in the packages they remain in humidity conditions for about six months. Then they are to be found in cigar shops.“
