Have you thought about it?
Spending your vacation in a lighthouse?
It’s been since early Millennium thinking about when I’ve got in hands a beautiful brochure from Mr. Vladi and his good company Vladi Islands. Nowadays it seems private owners and associations to be renovating lighthouses and offering them for rent. I have not made any research, so may not direct in confidence towards any agency.

However, I will honor Mr. Vladi by reproducing his current suggestions for his kindness to teach me 2 decades ago for the island’s sales and rentals. The first lighthouse rental operation had been in Croatia. Now it seems every country proposes its own lighthouses for rental.
Let’s dream of being on the spot with 360 degrees of breathtaking views on top of the lighthouse. We should not be stressed as lighthouses used to help homecoming sailors, as now, ship and vessels technology is so advanced that we remain in the lighthouse in peace.
Moreover, it is the automation systems that control a lighthouse replacing the human factor. This is how we come to the progress of property utilization for rental or even sale.
Sheltered in the lighthouse, enjoying a meal in the inhouse restaurant if operating like hotel, would you enjoy the sound and views of waves around you like a soft storm, or tranquility of water is just fine?
This is what Mr. Vladi suggests:

Tagomago, Mediterranean Sea, Spain
Tagomago represents peace and relaxation. 98 acres of private paradise invite you to excursions. Enjoy unique nature surrounded by turquoise waters. Actually, Tagomago is for rent. As one of the very few private islands in the Mediterranean it can be rented either for holiday or for business events.

Round Island, Michigan, USA
Round Island is a charming private island in in Michigan complete with a lighthouse domicile and wonderful mainland property. It is located in the meandering course of St. Mary’s River. The façade is well-maintained traditional and it looks as if the lighthouse is still in service. But in fact, the island’s for sale – maybe it is your new home?

East Brother Island, California, USA
San Francisco Bay remained hidden to Spanish explorers until 1769, because often it remained shrouded by a thick fog. On a clear day, one can enjoy an incomparable look at the skyline from East Brother Island, where for 133 years a lighthouse and a fog signal were in use. And in the five guest rooms of the carefully renovated home of the lighthouse keeper, island feeling, lighthouse adventure, and the Victorian Age can be experienced at once.

Silver Island, Aegean Sea, Greece
Comprising only of white-washed, traditional Greek homes, a church and lighthouse, Silver Island is an enchanting escape where modern distractions become a distant memory. This relaxing 12 person retreat promises sublime tranquility to all those in search of a sense of inner peace.
Killantringan Lighthouse in SW Scotland
Killantringan Lighthouse, Scotland
Killantringan Light Keepers House and Lighthouse Cottage enjoy a wonderful setting beside a decommissioned lighthouse and are perched high on the cliff with unlimited views of the dramatic coastline and out to sea.

ÎLe Louët, Brittany, France
In 1962, the lighthouse on Louët turned automatic and the lighthouse keeper was retired. Today, those who rent his former abode do not have to take care of light signals anymore, and can give themselves up completely to the wildly romantic loneliness.

Rock Island, St. Lawrence River, New York, USA
Rock Island was the first spot in the Thousand Islands archipelago in St. Lawrence River where the United States chose to erect a lighthouse. It was built in 1847 to guarantee safe passage to Lake Ontario, but it took more than 50 years of relocating it and changing its height until the number of shipping accidents finally dropped.
We’ll see more in another blog, we all love lighthouses aint’we?
