Choose Water created a biodegradable alternative to the plastic bottle
to fight the growing volume of plastic entering the world’s oceans. This bottle is made from sustainable materials 100% plant-based, that degrade into non-toxic, environmentally friendly substances. At its core, the product uses a natural hydrophobic lining that coats the inside of a vacuum formed 3D paper casing.
James Longcroft is a Scottish innovator, truly determined to change the future of our world through a material innovation. Entrepreneur and founder of the Choose Water, James Longcroft, proposed the sustainable alternative of plastic for a bottle of water.
Materials of the innovative bottle Cup is made by alloy, which rusts down into metal oxides, naturally occurring minerals. Outer Casing – Made from 100% recycled paper. It is cleaned, dyed and turned into our bottles. Label – Made from 100% recycled paper and printed with eco-inks. Lining – Made from sustainably sourced natural materials. Developed by in-house team, it is the key to keeping the water fresh and secure.
Created by impact-driven entrepreneur James Longcroft, Choose Water is a sustainable water company that has created a prototype bottle that can break down naturally and quickly in the ocean. When a plastic bottle is thrown away – whether it ends up in landfilll or our oceans – it will stay there for up to 450 years.
That’s why we Choose Water invented the new bottle, with a mission to spearhead a new blue movement of zero impact waste. 100% plastic-free, biodegradable water bottles are made entirely from sustainable materials which will only take a few months, instead of a few centuries, to degrade.
100% plastic-free, biodegradable water bottles
Every bottle chosen over a plastic alternative helps the environment and still keeps our water fresh.
Choose Water is an ethical bottled water company based in Edinburgh. The bottles are filled with Scottish water from the Cairngorms. Choose Water creates bottles to fill them in the heart of Edinburgh.
The goal of the company is to provide fantastic water in a package that doesn’t harm the environment. While at the same time supporting water projects in Africa.
Partnership promoted in the website of Choose Water is with Water for Africa and Sky Ocean Ventures.
Water for Africa is wonderful as they provide thousands of people with clean drinking water. They are the reason we get up in the morning and hopefully one of the reasons why you drink our water, James says. They aren’t like normal charities, they believe that a sustained program of investment, education and training will enable communities in Africa to lift themselves out of poverty. Where is the best place to start? With Water of course.
Thats why we are striving to help them as much as we can. Each bottle you buy will help provide clean water to those who need it most.
About partnership with Sky Ocean Ventures, James says that with their help Choose Water will be able to get our bottles on to shelves as soon as possible. Their support & expertise is allowing us buy better machinery and form strong relations with a wider community of retailers.
We cannot yet buy a bottle. The team is working hard to bring them to shelves and hope to be there Q2 2019. They will be selling our bottles online and at select retailers, but not yet!
Of course, once we have hit the shelves, Choose Water will offer out empty bottles and licensing opportunities globally so retailers to use the Choose Water packaging.
Ch2oose Water has a mission, to prove there is a commercially viable alternative to plastic. Commercial consulates should liaise best with Ch2oose Water and advise regional manufacturers for the opportunities for getting licenses regionally.
