Death can turn into life!
Modern Burial Techniques suggest Biodegradable urns or capsules designed to convert the body into a tree after death, such a great option to make us forget of the macabre side when talking death topic.
This is a subject to make us share commitment in creation of more sustainable after-death options, for the dead, the living and the planet. To die and become a marvelous tree the living may adore.
Some companies utilize urns made of 100% biodegradable materials, coconut shell, compacted peat, and cellulose, featuring two parts – a top capsule with the proper medium to allow complete germination of the seed, and a bottom cone where you can place for example the ashes.
The design of this tree urn allows the seed to germinate separated from the ashes. Once the urn starts the decomposing process, the tree roots are already strong enough to contact the ashes and grow through the Bios Urn.Bios Urn is ready to be used with any seed from a tree, shrub or plant. The urn planters don’t have an expiration date, so you can buy it when you want and keep it saved for a long time. And you can also use it with old ashes, just transfer them into the Bios Urn and plant it where you want.
A fabulous project is the Capsules Mundi under the slogan ‘Life never stops’, designed by Anna Citelli and Raoul Bretzel. https://www.capsulamundi.it/en/designers/ We must see beyond the standardized burial ceremonies as God will bless the peaceful on earth anyway.
Capsula Mundi is a cultural and broad-based project, which envisions a different approach to the way we think about death. It’s an egg-shaped pod, an ancient and perfect form, made of biodegradable material, where our departed loved ones are placed for burial.
The website suggests ashes to be held in small egg-shaped bio urns while bodies will be laid down in a fetal position in larger pods, with the Capsula then buried as a seed in the earth.
A tree, chosen in life by the deceased, will be planted on top of it and serve as a memorial for the departed and as a legacy for posterity and the future of our planet. Family and friends will continue to care for the tree as it grows.
Cemeteries will acquire a new look and, instead of the cold grey landscape we see today, they will grow into vibrant woodlands.
Why a religious ceremony has to be performed in the cold marbles and not in nature? Cemeteries will acquire a new look: no more cold grey tombstones but living trees creating a forest, a holy forest: A place with a sentimental value, where families can stroll with kids and teach them about different trees. Let’s plant a tree for each of us and cemeteries will become forests!
